Building relationships is one of the most important parts of the entertainment industry, and Connecticut promoter Mar Bankz continues to show how meaningful connections can create opportunities beyond a single event.
While Mar Bankz recently attended an event in Rhode Island alongside rising Chicago artist MAF Teeski, the relationship between the two didn't begin there. In fact, Mar Bankz first connected with Teeski after bringing the Chicago artist to Hartford for a New Year's event going into 2025. What started as a booking opportunity eventually developed into an ongoing professional relationship that continues to open new doors.
According to Mar Bankz, the connection was built organically through hospitality, professionalism, and maintaining communication after the event ended.
"I brought him to Hartford for New Year's 2024 going into 2025," Mar Bankz told 2TYME. "The relationship was built damn near during the show. My team and I was very hospitable to him and his management. The following day, after the show, we were invited to New York with him and his manager."
How The Rhode Island Opportunity Came Together
Months after hosting Teeski in Hartford, Mar Bankz received a personal invitation from his team to attend an event in Rhode Island. For her, the invitation represented something bigger than just another event appearance.
"This event was special because it was an invite from his team personally," she said. "I felt like the invite let me know like yeah, we locked in lol."
The invitation served as another example of how maintaining strong relationships within the music industry can create opportunities that extend far beyond the initial booking.
Why Industry Relationships Matter
For Mar Bankz, networking is more than simply exchanging contact information. She believes genuine relationships can lead to opportunities that many people never expect.
"As a promoter it's very important to have these type of relationships because you never know what could happen or what opportunities that it could bring," she explained. "I can't say too much, but just knowing who I know and booking who I've booked personally, I've been invited on business trips, made future business plans, etc with some of these artists I built relationships with."
As independent promoters continue to play a major role in regional music markets, stories like Mar Bankz's demonstrate how consistency and professionalism can help turn a single event into long-term industry connections.
Lessons Learned As A Promoter
Over the years, Mar Bankz has learned that authenticity remains one of the most valuable qualities in the entertainment business.
"The biggest lesson I've learned is to always keep that foot in the door. No matter what, always keep a good relationship and be yourself," she said. "These are regular people just with a lil more motion and fame. They eat, sleep and breathe just like us lol. They're all human."
Her approach has helped her build relationships with artists, management teams, and industry professionals throughout multiple markets.
What's Next For Mar Bankz?
Mar Bankz remains active throughout Connecticut's nightlife and entertainment scene while continuing to develop new opportunities for supporters and eventgoers.
"Juke Box Wednesdays and the Brunch Club Sundays are weekly events at Soul Baila," she said. "I have a few more parties brewing, a pool party in motion, and a couple other special guest events coming very soon."
With new events on the horizon and industry relationships continuing to grow, Mar Bankz is proving that strong connections and consistent work can create opportunities that stretch well beyond Connecticut.
