Hartford, Connecticut artist ESCO CRACK returns with the official music video for his latest single, “Dog Barkin,” continuing a run that shows an artist becoming increasingly comfortable with his sound, image and lifestyle.

“I grew as an artist the most by just embracing who I am and accepting the fact that I was different,” Esco told 2TYME. “The difference is what's gonna make me win.”

Instead, he's allowing who he actually is to become the image.
Esco explained that there was a point when he was putting more energy into the politics surrounding music and thinking about how an artist was supposed to present himself. Eventually, he decided to simplify his approach and lean into his actual personality.
“I just said, ‘Fuck all it,’ and drop it and just use my personality and truly who I am as my image,” Esco explained. “I put fashion first and just my lifestyle first and into the music. I feel like that was the turning point.”

Fashion isn't treated like something added solely for the camera. His personality isn't separated from his artist persona. The visual instead gives viewers another look into the lifestyle surrounding Esco and his music.

“When it comes to videos with me and Wes, it's easy,” Esco said.
Esco says there is enough trust between the two that every detail doesn't have to be mapped out beforehand. Pearson gives Esco room to establish his vision, while Esco trusts him behind the camera to capture the right moments and bring everything together.
“He trusts my vision and I trust him to just get the proper angles and match it all up together.”
That chemistry makes sense for the type of artist ESCO is becoming.
When the goal is to capture lifestyle rather than create an entirely fictional world for every release, having a videographer who already understands the artist can make the finished product feel more natural.
Esco summed up his approach simply:
“All I gotta do is just show my lifestyle in the video.”
